Kim Cattrall is officially a newlywed! The Sex and the City star married her longtime partner, Russell Thomas, in London on Dec. 4. The private ceremony, held at Chelsea Old Town Hall, was attended by just 12 guests, according to People.
Cattrall and Thomas first met at the BBC in 2016, when she was a guest on the radio program Woman’s Hour. How they connected afterward was “very modern,” Cattrall told Glamour in 2018: Thomas sent her a direct message on social media. After that, Cattrall and Thomas kept in touch, and the London-based audio engineer eventually visited her on Vancouver Island in Canada, where she resides.
“It was very brave of him because we didn’t really know each other other than having a few meals together. But he came, and we got along great," she told People in 2020. "And we’ve been together ever since!”
For the intimate ceremony, Cattrall wore a white Dior ensemble, consisting of a tailored suit jacket and a knee-length, pleated tulle skirt. Cattrall, who was styled by her longtime friend and collaborator, former Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Field, finished the look with lace gloves from Cornelia James and an elegant hat from milliner Philip Treacy. Thomas opted for a custom Richard James suit.
The newlyweds currently split their time between Vancouver Island and the U.K.
Cattrall and Thomas have mostly kept their relationship out of the spotlight, though the How I Met Your Father actress has, on occasion, shed light on their romance. During an interview with the Times in June, Cattrall gushed about Thomas, telling the outlet, “He was an actor originally. He’s had an incredibly interesting life and really done it on his terms. He’s a bit of a rebel, which I love.”
Cattrall added, “We’ve been together almost 10 years now. … And we’ve had a blast. We’ve just had so much fun.”
